As a scientific research platform integrating scientific research, translational application and teaching, the Central Laboratory is set up to promote discipline development and transformation of scientific achievements. By combining clinical practice and scientific research, it will provide all-round services and technical support for scientific research, teaching and training in the hospital. Adhering to the tenet of "innovation, diligence, high quality and efficiency", it focuses on frontier research of Neuroscience, and takes ultrasonic nerve regulation, gene diagnosis of brain tumors, individualized diagnosis and treatment of tumors, and microbiological analysis of pathogens as the major development direction. More, it will also strengthen the applied research of translational medicine and strive to build a scientific research center with distinctive technical characteristics and integrating scientific research and translational application in the eastern region of Shenzhen.

Located in Area A, 3F of Inpatient Building, and covering an area of 1,500 m², the Central Laboratory is a secondary pathogenic microorganism laboratory of Guangdong Province registered by Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, with Class-10,000 clean cell room, P2+ gene amplification laboratory, pathogenic microorganism laboratory, molecular protein laboratory, pathology laboratory, analytical chemistry laboratory, neurobiology laboratory, drug screening laboratory, pathogenic immunity laboratory and other experimental platforms set up. At present, the Central Laboratory is equipped with advanced instruments and equipment such as fluorescence quantitative PCR, high performance liquid chromatograph, flow cytometer, automatic nucleic acid extractor, chemiluminescence imaging system, fluorescence forward microscope, inverted microscope, biosafety cabinet, chemical fume hood, slicer, photogenetic system and so on.

A high-level scientific research team consisting of 11 talents is also allocated for the Central Laboratory. Among which, 3 talents enjoy the titles of Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talent (Peacock Program Talent), Shenzhen High-level Reserve Talent and that of "Gathering Famous Medical Talents" Program in Pingshan District, Shenzhen, a total of 6 talents have gained senior professional titles or doctoral degree. The Central Laboratory has presided over 3 national and 11 provincial and municipal projects, published more than 100 papers in SCI-indexed journals, applied for more than 40 patents, and authorized 4 international invention patents and 25 domestic patents, with 6 provincial and ministerial awards for research results granted.
